Cortical is an Australian biotechnology company founded to pursue the development of small-molecule inhibitors of MIF (macrophage migration inflammatory factor) for the treatment of inflammatory disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma/COPD) and other diseases (metabolic, CV, oncology).   

Cortical’s program is lead by Prof Eric Morand who is both a highly respected thought leader in this field and a practicing Rheumatologist.   Cortical owns a library of MIF compounds, including a primary scaffold developed to Lead Optimisation. Cortical’s proprietary technology has enabled fast compound ranking, SAR and screening.

Cortical has recently overcome a major roadblock in MIF, resulting in a cellular assay platform that has enabled Cortical to advance their primary MIF inhibitor scaffold to lead optimisation. Cortical has activated partnering discussions, seeking to fully resource the MIF program, thereby maintaining its leadership position in the MIF field.
